Swallow, a Harmony 34, was built by Groupe Poncin Yachts at their factory in La Rochelle in the South West of France. Launched in the Spring of 2008 at Largs Marina, she has since that time been available for bareboat charter on the western mainland seaboard of Argyll. She is currently based at Oban Marina, and as such is ideally situated for cruising Scotland’s West Coast and Hebridean Islands.
A fine and balanced underwater hull makes the Harmony 34 fast and pleasant to sail in all types of weather.
Swallow is able to accommodate a maximum of six crew, having double berths in each of the forward cabin, aft cabin and main saloon. She is however rigged for ease of use, having a fully battened mainsail, lazy jack system, single line reefing and furling 110% foresail. Most lines are led back to the cockpit, all of which means that she can readily be handled by just two persons. As such she is ideal for intimate romantic getaways, family groups and friends looking for adventure in what are widely regarded as some of the finest cruising waters in the world.
Swallow has a full inventory of equipment suited to cruising the waters of the Western Isles, and, is coded by the Marine and Coastguard Agency to sail in category 2 waters. Among her many features are a 28 hp Volvo engine, Navicontrol autohelm, Lewmar electric anchor windlass, pressurised hot and cold water system, Webasto blown hot air heating (with 4 outlets), and comprehensive electronics for ease of navigation. A 110 litre fuel tank with 20 litres of spare fuel, allows for upwards of 70 hours of running at cruising speeds.
Swallow has a linear galley to port with double sinks, gas cooker with two burners and oven and a 200 litre top loading fridge, containing 6 storage bins for ease of use. A 200 litre tank supplies adequate fresh water to encourage overnight use of the many remote anchorages to be found at stunning locations throughout Swallow’s area of operation.
